Boat Lift Plans

Boat lift plan drafting coordinated with the dock and waterfront site.

Boat lifts are rarely isolated from the rest of the waterfront project. Pile locations, access, dock geometry, roof or cover framing, vessel clearance and adjacent structures all need to line up. We prepare boat-lift drawings that fit into a coordinated marine plan set rather than treating the lift as a disconnected sketch.

Lift layouts that fit the site

Drafting can include lift location and orientation, pile arrangement, relationship to fixed or floating docks, access platforms, dimensions, elevations and equipment callouts based on the selected lift system and project information. When the lift is part of a larger dock or boathouse project, the sheets are coordinated so the same geometry carries through the set.

Covered lifts and boathouse structures

Projects with roofed or covered lift areas may require additional plan, elevation and framing information. We can draft the construction documentation based on contractor input and the applicable engineering/design criteria. Roof lines, support locations and clearances are coordinated with the dock and lift below.

Existing-condition upgrades and replacements

For replacement lifts or waterfront upgrades, existing piles, dock sections and seawalls can affect the new layout. Photos, field dimensions, survey information and existing plans help document those constraints so proposed work is easy to distinguish.

Permit-ready documentation support

We can prepare plan sheets and permit exhibits, respond to redlines and revise layouts as the project progresses. Jurisdictional and engineering requirements vary, so deliverables are confirmed before production begins. Professional engineering and sealing are handled by appropriately licensed professionals when required.

Common Questions

What contractors usually ask.

Can the boat lift be added to an existing dock plan?

Yes. Existing plan sets can be revised when there is enough information to coordinate the new lift with the dock and site.

Can you draft a roof over the boat lift?

We can prepare the drafting and plan documentation for covered structures based on the design criteria and engineering direction provided for the project.

Do you specify the boat-lift equipment?

Equipment selection is typically provided by the contractor, owner, manufacturer or design professional. We can incorporate the selected system into the plan set.
